Privacy Policy

Section 1. About the Privacy Policy

  1. Network Applied Communication Laboratory Inc. (“NaCl”) has taken steps to protect the User’s personal information according to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of May 30, 2003) by implementing strict security measures and proper management of personal information.

Section 2. Personal Information

  1. “Personal information” in the context of this Privacy Policy refers to information about a living individual such as name, date of birth or similar descriptive information, which can, alone or by correlation to other easily obtainable information, be used to specifically identify that person.

Section 3. Personal Information Collected

  1. NaCl may receive personal information such as address, name, telephone number, e-mail address from the User through a registration form or similar, in order to contact the User, or to confirm the identify of the User. Furthermore, NaCl may inquire about the User’s date of birth, age, occupation, income or similar personal information whenever NaCl deems it necessary for the provision of the Service. The User may choose to not answer these inquiries, but in some cases answering may be required for using the Service or parts of the Service.

Section 4. About the Purpose of Use of Personal Information

  1. The personal information that NaCl gathers will be used for the following purposes only:
    1. Providing support to the User with regard to the use of services and products
    2. Informing members about the availability of new services and products
    3. Verifying and confirming the User’s registration to members-only services
    4. Aiding the investigation of technical problems, and their resolution
    5. Research and surveys in relation with product development
    6. Internal collection and analysis within NaCl
    7. As a source of information for producing information material about NaCl’s services
    8. To verify content such as member’s diaries or similar content if actions have been taken that breach, or are likely to breach the Terms of Service
    9. Other uses required in order to provide the Service appropriately

Section 5. Supervision of Subcontractors

  1. NaCl may, in part or entirely, entrust the management of personal information to a subcontractor to the degree required to fulfill the intended purpose.
  2. NaCl will, as a general rule, contractually require any subcontractor to take measures to ensure the safe management of personal information, and adequately monitor the subcontractors handling of personal information.

Section 6. Restrictions on the Purpose of Use of Personal Information

  1. The personal information gathered by NaCl will only be used for the purposes listed in Section 4. In the event that NaCl needs to use the gathered personal information for other purposes, NaCl will only do so after gaining the consent of the User, except in the following cases:
    1. When the use is grounded on laws and ordinances
    2. When the use is required to prevent harm to a person’s life, body or assets, and NaCl deems that urgency is required
    3. When NaCl is required to cooperate on the performance of duties stipulated by law or regulations with a government body, a local public body or a party that has undertaken delegation from such body, and when the acquiring of the User’s consent is likely to interfere with the performance of such duties.

Section 7. About the Provision of Collected Personal Information

  1. NaCl will not supply personal information received from the User to a third party without the consent of the User, except in the following cases:
    1. When providing the Service or explanatory material about the Service to the User
    2. When the User requests information, services or products of another company through NaCl
    3. When the User performs any kind of communication with another company through NaCl
    4. When the User performs registration with a site which has the purpose of making users known to other companies

Section 8. About the Management of Personal Information

  1. NaCl has done its utmost to reliably protect the User personal information, and to ensure that strict security measures are in place in order to make sure that personal information are used according to the the User’s intentions. Furthermore NaCl takes great care to avoid loss, misuse, unauthorised use, publication, alteration or destruction of data.
  2. NaCl may take backup copies of data in order to enable restoration of NaCl’s facilities.

Section 9. Exemption from Responsibility

  1. NaCl shall not be liable if the User uses the Service provided by NaCl to release or supply personal information to a third party.

Section 10. About Changes to the Privacy Policy

  1. NaCl may change, in parts or entirely, this Privacy Policy at any time.

Section 11. About Cookies

  1. Some of the pages on NaCl’s websites apply a technology called cookies. Cookies are pieces of data made up of alphanumeric characters, which may be sent to and stored on the User’s computer. NaCl sometimes uses cookies to customize NaCl’s websites according to the customer’s individual needs, and in order increase customer satisfaction by refining the services and content of the websites.
  2. Cookies, as described in Section 11.1, can enable the Service to reduce, for revisiting users, the trouble of having to re-input information, can allow the users to see their registered information at a glance, and allows the system to address the users with their personal name. However, these cookies do not identify the User’s personal information.
  3. NaCl may analyze and release information gathered by using cookies for statistical purposes, but such information will not include information which will make the User identifiable.
  4. By configuring the User’s browser, the User can disable the cookie technology or cause warning dialogs to be displayed whenever a cookie is sent to the User’s computer. However NaCl’s websites and services may become partially or entirely unavailable, if the cookie technology is disabled.

Article 12. About the Use of Cookies and Web Beacons by Advertising Companies

  1. Third-party advertising companies or third-party advertising delivery systems may sometimes use cookies on NaCl’s sites. Users can disable such cookies by configuring their web browser.
  2. NaCl may use web beacons in order to measure the effectiveness of advertisements as well as to gather usage statistics. Information included in the web beacons is not associated with information whereby individuals can be identified.
